Has anyone else seen this on BBC?! It’s absolutely abhorrent! www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-47642298

I saw this yesterday. What a horrific ordeal for the poor kids and poor escorts. They were so lucky, thanks to the police and the boy who called his parents, though they'll obviously be traumatised.

Dottysheep1 · 21/03/2019 16:59

Yes, it seems sheer luck that they managed to escape. Poor kids! I really hope this sort of thing doesn’t give anyone else any ideas

I just read that the boy saved his classmates by hiding his mobile phone while the driver confiscated the mobile phones pretended he was praying in Arabic while he was actually telling his Father what was going on. What an amazing kid. His family are from Egypt but he was born in Italy and doesn't have official citizenship yet. I hope that he receives it, and an award. He more than deserves it.

What is very concerning is that the driver had a drunk driving conviction and one for sexual assault and spent a year behind bars. How the hell did he get to be a school bus driver?

His family deserve citizenship too.

I couldn't believe the guy's prior convictions!

JellyBeanScene · 21/03/2019 20:24

Yes, it's crazy that he was able to get the position. One of those convictions should have been enough to prevent him from becoming a bus driver, let alone driving a school bus. I don't know what checks are done in Italy for positions like this but someone seriously screwed up.
