Sorry I know it's nosy Grin obviously if you don't want to answer that's fine!

It's more to give me inspiration that at my age (29) I will actually at some point be able to get myself a job that's on more than minimum wage (work in retail now).

I'm educated to degree level and have lots of skills I could transfer, but have zero self confidence. I want nice things though (sunny holidays, newer car, savings etc) so the reality is I need to find myself a higher paid job!

36k plus bonus in a private company, stand-alone role. Previously earned 37k in public sector. The last role was super stressful but I don’t feel like I’m “earning” my salary in the new job. Despite much piss-taking at my expense about how only the private sector know what hard work is 🤦‍♀️. Nope.

Vinotinto78 · 21/03/2019 22:42

40 by the way.

butterry · 21/03/2019 22:42

I have a degree but I have never been employed by someone else. I started my own small company straight after university in unrelated field and made over 100k a year profit. 4 years later I changed fields, sold the first business and started a different company. Today I am 35, take over 200k in dividends annually and have over 30 employees. My husband on the other hand studied for 8 years in his field and earns 52k at 35 years old.

My brother has no degree and his own business since 18years old. Now at 31 years old he makes over 100k. I don't believe degrees automatically equate to financial success.

AnduinsGirl · 21/03/2019 22:43

Teacher, 34, earn 53k. Love my job and wouldn't change it for the world.

Lochnessgiraffe · 21/03/2019 22:43

I left uni with a good degree no idea what to do with it so I worked as a Tefl teacher for 9 years. Good money for where I was. Back in the UK I got the same job on £12k. After studying for an MA and 2 children. And project management qualifications. I got a new job 9 years ago. I've moved up and now I have a good job as a Project manager on £50k. And I don't live in London.
You need to have an idea of what you are good at. I'm a organised control freek who knows far too much about interest security and infrastructure. Learnt too much due to ex-dh.
If you really want to move up. What are your interests. What can you be passionate about!

kingfisherblue33 · 21/03/2019 22:44

47, and earn £30-35k per year. Freelance, so it changes. But I love my job.

Early 40s.
Live in a big flat overlooking the Mediterranean.
Have healthy MH (after having shit MH for 5 + years).
Speak 3 languages, have lived in 3 foreign countries.
I haven't lived in the UK for 24 years. I left temporarily, just to get away from a suppressive home life, and hump my horny way around Italy Grin

sazzle27 · 21/03/2019 23:27

26 and £23k, looking to increase over the next two years as I move up a band post qualifying.
No degree, and last year overtime/unsocial bonus took me to £30k..
Love my job and am hoping to get a sideline started this/next year so I can earn some money from home too, to cover us in the hopes of conceiving in the next 12 months......

HellAndDegenerates · 21/03/2019 23:51

I'm a Butt Doctor. I get paid with whatever I find. It's mostly action men TBF. The amount of guys falling on action figures by accident is baffling.

JourneyofSelfImprovement · 23/03/2019 11:47

Sorry all, been unwell and not checked this post for a couple of days. Have enjoyed reading all the replies though Grin

I do agree with PP about enhancing my own skills/working out what I'm good at and what I want to do.

This may take some time.... Grin
