Sorry I know it's nosy Grin obviously if you don't want to answer that's fine!

It's more to give me inspiration that at my age (29) I will actually at some point be able to get myself a job that's on more than minimum wage (work in retail now).

I'm educated to degree level and have lots of skills I could transfer, but have zero self confidence. I want nice things though (sunny holidays, newer car, savings etc) so the reality is I need to find myself a higher paid job!

Age 20, I earn £30k.

I feel really proud of that Smile

notso · 21/03/2019 15:23

38 and earn zero as a SAHM. I win on average £50 a month on premium bonds.

PrimeraVez · 21/03/2019 15:27

32, around 125k. Have huge outgoings though and DH earns a relatively low salary, so there’s never as much left at the end of the month as I would hope.

Am also learning that salary itself isn’t the be all and end all. Have recently returned after my second lot of mat leave and the flexibility my company give me is priceless.

SwimmingBadger · 21/03/2019 15:31

Was earning £40k at 23. Left to have kids, then retrained as a teacher so will be taking almost 50% pay cut when I start my first role... I'm hoping I made the right choice Confused

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 21/03/2019 15:33

25, BA degree 2:1 and earn £22,000 per year.

Justtrying · 21/03/2019 15:34

43, degree educated. 60k gross working so called part time 5 long days in with shifts and time away. 5 days off. Airline Captain.
Not very family friendly as when I'm working I can't rely on being home as delays and roster changes happen. My DH has to be completely flexible whilst I work. On the plus side when I'm off, I'm off. All be it quite tired for the first couple of days

Sexnotgender · 21/03/2019 15:36

36 and on £44k with a relevant degree.

Ragwort · 21/03/2019 15:38

60 & earn £12k (part time), in retail Grin. I’ve had much better paid jobs in the past but I’ve got to the age where having a job that I love with plenty of autonomy (which I have) is more important than just earning a big salary Grin.

Gizmo79 · 21/03/2019 15:38

40 and basic is 45k plus able to earn a lot extra doing agency.
Normally annual is around 60k

Ragwort · 21/03/2019 15:38

LipstickforFish · 21/03/2019 15:49

RightOcciputAnterior · 21/03/2019 15:51

I'm 32, work 2.5 days a week, and earn £75k (full-time equivalent would be just under £150k). I have very high outgoings so I don't feel very well-off!

Imnotswallowingthat · 21/03/2019 15:58

I'm 51 and get a salary of £11,500 plus dividends of around £150,000 a year.

Seedlip · 21/03/2019 16:39

I have a bachelor's degree in science. I came from a different country and arrived in the UK for the very first time to work in technical writing when I was 33. Before then I was living in an emerging country and working in the same role earning the equivalent of £6k pa (calculated using historical exchange rates).

  • 33 years old: £33k pa
  • 38 years old (same type of job with a different employer; became UK citizen): £44k pa
  • 40 years old (switched to pharma; lived and worked in EU under freedom of movement): €90k pa
  • 46 years old now (still in pharma): £150k pa
dairymilkmonster · 21/03/2019 20:24

35 and £35k for 3 days a week plus some on call (doctor). Have phd and postgrad medical qualifications.
DH is also 35, £80k (also doctor, FT and more senior than me due to dc destroying my career). Masters and post grad medical qualifications.

What would you like to do?

SharkSave · 21/03/2019 21:32
