Sorry I know it's nosy Grin obviously if you don't want to answer that's fine!

It's more to give me inspiration that at my age (29) I will actually at some point be able to get myself a job that's on more than minimum wage (work in retail now).

I'm educated to degree level and have lots of skills I could transfer, but have zero self confidence. I want nice things though (sunny holidays, newer car, savings etc) so the reality is I need to find myself a higher paid job!

JustHereForThePooStories · 21/03/2019 21:55

I’m not British so very happy to state my age and salary Grin

I’m 36 and my salary is £91k. I don’t have a degree, but ended up doing a lot of qualifications related to the role I fell in to. I absolutely love my job, and pinch myself that I get paid so much to do it.

When I was your age, I was on £45k but hated my job. I left (literally walked out with another job to go to), ended up joining a start-up for a 6 week contract, and then became one of their first ten employees. They grew very quickly, and I was lucky to be able to pretty much design my own job.

I also do some freelance work linked to a qualification I gained, mainly to keep the required CPD hours up so I can retain my accreditation. I do this one day a month and it brings in about £10k a year.

Additionally, I also have a little side hobby that generates online sales which can vary from £3k - £8k a year, depending on how much sweat I’m willing to put in to it.

I'm 41. I work for a publicly-owned city transport company. I earn too much. Pick a number and add £10k. I'm British and squirming

Wond3rment · 21/03/2019 22:17

Focusing on your personal development rather than others earnings is probably more helpful to you. As others have suggested, begin by working out what you would love and then build a plan around that.

It worked for me, Age: 45 Salary: 130k

Best of luck!

Bouchie · 21/03/2019 22:23

TrickyKid · 21/03/2019 22:26

46 and about 15k. Very happy and wouldn't want to go back to full time stress.

Wincher · 21/03/2019 22:30

I'm 38 and until a couple of years ago my earnings had been about the same amount in thousands for quite some time. (Well, started aged 22 on about £14k but then was on about £20k by 24, £26k by 26). I'm now on about £45k (though pro rata less than this) and it does please me to have overtaken my age!

Wincher · 21/03/2019 22:32

(I have a degree and work in the public sector - still in the same sector I went into straight after uni).

jackstini · 21/03/2019 22:33

46 and earn £80k part time
Had to work for much less full time though for 10 years to get this!

NameChanger22 · 21/03/2019 22:34

Dontbestupidagain · 21/03/2019 22:40

40 with a degree and masters. Just returning to employment after 12 years off. Currently work 4 days per week 5 hours per day for £280 per week. I do supply for learning support so won't always have a regular income.

le42 · 21/03/2019 22:41

Just turned 29, last year I earned £130k with my own business. Had a baby so not on that now! I have a BA and an MA / unrelated to my job.
