How to use a mobile phone course

Hi. Does anyone know of any organisations that would teach someone with confidence issues how to use an android/ mobile phone. Have an older relative who would really benefit from using their mobile but lacks the confidence or know how to use it.

GoodthingsFoundation run the UK Online centres www.onlinecentresnetwork.org/ , that might be able to help, or search for Digital Inclusion in your area. In Cambridge we have this www.cambridge.gov.uk/how-to-get-online there might be something similar in your area.

I help people in Cambridge 1:1 but it's an unusual service (that's more widely needed).

You can also download different "launchers" that skin the phone can can make it simpler to use, lots of guides to them online such as this. Once downloaded, simply when prompted after tapping the Home button, tell it to always use the new launcher.

I think some of the mobile phone shops do this - our local 02 shop does. DP (technophobe!) mentioned it the other day, he hasn't done it yet though.

You can book an appointment so you get dedicated 1-on-1 time with one of the staff who will take your relative through everything. Also I think some individual manufacturer's have help centres too - i.e. there's a Samsung drop-in centre not far from us.
