I'm in hospital waiting for one. They suspect trombosis. Should I have one? I'm really scared for the baby. Please tell me some comforting stories that it's harmless.

No single CT scan will contain enough radiation to harm your baby, but even so they would not do it if it were not necessary. Flowers Hope you are OK.

They should have discussed alternate options with you.

All CT scans(and for that matter x-rays) are a risk, but that needs to be balanced against the risk of not having a scan, which in some cases can be dire.....

They ideally would have talked about a V/Q scan, CT Scan, or not doing any test and just treating it as a thrombosis anyway, and what the relative risks of each option were.

No they only said CT scan no the roption given. I've had a tiny bit of a fever, high blood pressure and high CRP levels. She only said an internal hemorrhage or a thrombosis were worse for the baby in comparison to the risk of the CT scan.
