Will he be OK? Do I need to get his stomach pumped? He's only titchy!

I would call a vet asap. chocolate is poison for dogs.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 20/03/2019 21:39

I think there’s a poisons hotline for pets. Have a google and see if they can advise.

I think they charge per call

SenoraSurf · 20/03/2019 21:40

My 4kg terrier wafted down an entire Lindt bunny.... she was ok! I worried and watched her like a hawk but all was ok. Just watch your pooch carefully for abnormal behaviour. That's not a lot of chocolate really especially if it was only half x

AnxiousMcAnxiousFace · 20/03/2019 21:40

That is a minute amount of chocolate. I know that if I rang my vet they would tell me to keep and eye and not to worry. My dog is 10kg though. Is there a vet you can ring and ask. We have rung the vet several times in the last 10 years without ridiculous dog and she’s only been called in twice!

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 20/03/2019 21:41

£30 per call apparently - but hopefully they will reassure you and save a trip to the vets

Blimey that’s a lot of typos but you get the gist!

RLOU30 · 20/03/2019 21:43

Hang on you mean that little biscuit thing that’s half chocolate anyway - he had half of that? He will be fine

AnxiousMcAnxiousFace · 20/03/2019 21:46

I have about a million pounds in 1p and 2p coins down the back of the sofa and left on every available surface.

AnxiousMcAnxiousFace · 20/03/2019 21:46

Whoops! 😬

RomanticFatigue · 20/03/2019 21:47

Call the emergency vets. I did and they calculated it for me and said she should be fine, which she was. As yours is so tiny I would call them.

Sorry, that was for anxious

LittleScottish · 20/03/2019 21:56

Ok, he's closer to 7kg and I based this on one wrapped chocolate (assuming this will be a Quality Street or similar) which would be more chocolate than hes ingested with the half biscuit. Will not be letting him sleep on the bed though incase he voms/craps. Eek.

Thanks for the advice all. Will be keeping an eye on him, the dickhead x

As other posters have suggested, keep a good eye on the dog. Ensure he has plenty of water. Give him some of his usual food. If he isn’t in pain, is still bright eyed and bushy tailed, and still eats his usual stuff then all you have to do is follow him when you put him out for his evening poo, and check it to see he has done it normally. Don’t worry. Dogs are more resilient than we think.

MrsPinkCock · 20/03/2019 22:28

Does your vet have a 24 hour line? Ours does. They help over the phone for free, they’re ace.

Or see if your pet insurer has a helpline.

Ring them for advice and quickly. Not worth the risk.
