Absolutely nothing.

BarbaraofSevillle · 21/03/2019 11:56

Banks have had a lot of criticism in the past for allowing vulnerable customers to withdraw thousands of pounds to hand over to criminals posing as builders etc, so they are supposed to try and identify and stop such crime.

Santander give you a card to read that goes through this and asks you if you are sure and know what you are doing. They also do it online as well - you have to say what the money is for and then it goes through a little questionnaire to try and ensure that you know what you are doing and are not being conned. I suppose there is also the money laundering aspect too that they have to take reasonable steps to try and detect and prevent.

BatFace1 · 21/03/2019 12:20

Err depends on a few things.

15k from instant access savings
2k from bank account
185K from other savings

So maybe 200K at a push

And although it sounds quite a lot, we aren't rich. It's sat there to go towards us moving house shortly.

sleepwhenidie · 21/03/2019 12:25

OP, are you the poster that was thinking of asking their neighbour for a mortgage? Are you now looking for a MNetter with a few hundred k lying around instead? HmmSmile

Ellabella989 · 21/03/2019 12:27

About 10k but would be left with nothing after that

Progress2019 · 21/03/2019 12:30

I’ve got two 50ps but they have beatrix potter characters on, so I was keeping them. Apart from that, there’s the pennies jar (some 5ps in there too), and thats it. I gave my bank card and all my cash (75p) to my husband on Sunday to protect myself from buying chocolate. I’ve got money in my account, and savings, but so far, haven’t succumed to buying chocolate online.

This was my choice, before anyone thinks i’m being bullied.

Bit weird to want to know about peoples finances.

adaline · 21/03/2019 12:31

If I could get to the bank - 16k.

PH03b3 · 21/03/2019 13:56

Currently in my purse i have around £280 (needs putting in the bank) im not telling you anything else

elfycat · 21/03/2019 14:03

40k at the moment, but it's allocated and will soon be gone. After that it would usually be about 1k, 7k if I borrow from the kids' accounts.

Dramatical · 21/03/2019 14:03

Considering Mumsnet can access addresses some how on another thread no way an I disclosing this info here!

Too right. I reckon OP is a mole planted by MNHQ to goad into telling them how much cash we have then MNHQ are going to pick the richest and rob them in the night.

Omzlas · 21/03/2019 14:14

94p approximately.

Meretricious · 21/03/2019 14:26

I'm not planning to rob anyone. Honest.

HollySwift · 21/03/2019 14:30

One hundred BILLION dollars!

fudgesmummy · 21/03/2019 14:31

If I couldn’t leave the house about £30, but it would be in 20p’s and coppers.
If I could go to the bank about another £100.
Don’t have any credit cards or overdrafts
Rather envious of the people who would have access to thousands Sad

3boysandabump · 21/03/2019 14:31

Does overdraft count because technically when I've been paid I'm still overdrawn so even on payday I have zero

Youmadorwhat · 21/03/2019 14:31

From the bank only about 26k
Anymore would mean waiting 30days

UnPocoLoco2 · 21/03/2019 14:38

Oh Lordy times are tough here. Probably about £20 really. Thankfully we have a home to live in and food to eat though

AlphaSigma · 21/03/2019 15:25

12.83 EUR though maybe less as I just had my debit card declined at the supermarket. I only needed milk. :(

Loyaultemelie · 21/03/2019 15:34

I often wonder when I watch "Can't pay take it away " how they expect people to raise thousands in an hour. If the bailiffs appear here I would just have to set the cat on them

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 21/03/2019 16:05

My current account has about £80 to last me til the end of the month.

I've got about 500 quid in my emergency bank account.

that's it.

UnPocoLoco2 · 21/03/2019 17:32

ShockShockat the people who have a spare £25k lying around.

UnPocoLoco2 · 21/03/2019 17:35

@Dramatical oohhh I hadn't thought of that. My suspicion mind tells me that maybe you're correct.

UnPocoLoco2 · 21/03/2019 17:37

@AlphaSigma sorry to hear that. It's happened to me too in the past . It's not nice

UnPocoLoco2 · 21/03/2019 17:38

@BatFace1 you actually admit to having 200k?? Wow I am so jealous

BlueMerchant · 21/03/2019 17:42

£500 a day limit from cash machine (unsure how much bank allows you to withdraw without notice?)
About £130 in house.
