Went to buy ballet shoes for DD 5 who's been doing ballet for the best part of 2 years. Tried the next size up for her, but they were slipping off in the shop, although the toes were where they should have been. I said to the shop assistant "oh, they'll probably be ok when i sew the elastic in" and she said "and when you adjust the drawstring".

Ffs! I thought those tiny little stings were for a tiny little bow! My mind is blown.

To make it worse she asked my daughter "how long have you been doing ballet?" 😩

All the ballet shoes I ever had just used those strings for a bow. They weren't real drawstrings. First held on by elastic then ribbons when I got older.

I've got no experience with my kids shoes though, they don't dance.
