should I be concerned I'm the 4th owner of my car and it's not even 4 years old yet

it'll be 4 on the 27th of this month. I'm guessing the garage I bought it from will be one of the 3 previous keepers? log book has just come through and I'm a bit shocked it's had so many owners already. I'm probably a bit paranoid as the car we traded in was a nightmare and I don't want another one with problems

No the garage won't be an owner.

I wouldn't worry, you can't change it so

NoFucksImAQueen · 20/03/2019 18:00

you get 14 days to change your mind and iv only had it a week so I could do something but I'm not sure I'm overreacting

Is it a former lease car, maybe? (Not sure I’m guessing)

Kaddm · 20/03/2019 18:25

I’d be concerned yes. How long did each person own it for?
There are a lot of duff cars around these days.

seething1234 · 20/03/2019 18:27

In Ireland you can avoid paying arrears motor tax by putting it in someone else's name.... I'm sure this doesn't happen in other countries but could it be something like that?

Redglitter · 20/03/2019 18:29

You might find the first owner was the dealer who sold it. That's quite common. In that case there's only really been 2 other owners who've user it. I wouldn't over think it

NoFucksImAQueen · 20/03/2019 18:34

they did say it was registered to a business previously so would the people using it have been on the log book rather than the company?

What car is it and do you have a full service history? Do you know if it’s been in any accidents? If it’s a 15 plate is it diesel and are you in London?

DaanSaaf · 20/03/2019 20:51

Dh bought me my car on finance and had to put it in his name. I changed it over a few weeks later to mine, could be something like that?

BlueThursday · 20/03/2019 20:53

Is it a hot hatch? They appeal to young drivers who find out quickly they can’t afford to keep it.

My friend had such a car that had 3 previous keepers. Her friend worked in the dealership and disclosed the info

BigFatGiant · 20/03/2019 20:58

We sometime only have a car for six months (long story). We’ve been through 17 cars in the past five years. Nothing wrong with them (well baring the one we totalled and one which we got rid of after a minor incident).

NoFucksImAQueen · 20/03/2019 22:24

it's petrol 1.6 and it's a hyundai ix35. just bought the check thing and no write off or anything. I did however learn it had a personalised plate on it at one point so maybe it was just a status car for someone who changed often? (i may have snooped and they now have a bmw. wish it gave you details so I could just ask them why they traded it in)
it has fairly low mileage (23k) and most of the history (3 services but not enough for the whole every year thing because it missed the 2 years or hadn't been put in the book)

emailed the garage this morning to ask for more info. asked for an email back since I was in work all day but not heard from them yet.
