Opinion on Nottingham as a city...

Leeoe · 20/03/2019 17:09

Just moved here short notice and don't know much about the city. I'm 27, single mum to a 6 month old and know very few people here...

Opinions? I could move elsewhere but I think I might like it here...

What's there to do here for a very stressed single mum?

Are you pretty much centre or in the outskirts? (without outting yourself too much!)
There is so much to the city centre for everybody and an easy bus route to the sherwood forest and if you can drive you'll be pretty much anywhere within a couple of hours.
Ive visited quite a few times and really like it.

Where are you (I went to university there). Places range from amazing to awful. Location matters in Nottingham.

I'm near west bridgeford

West Bridgeford is very nice! Have a look at some baby groups as it's a good way to make friends x

West bridge ford is lovely.

I grew up in West Bridgford and my parents still live there as do some old school friends. It has always been a good place to live - if expensive. In the 20 years since I lived there full time the town centre has become a real destination for cafes and bars/restaurants. Nottingham city itself - reasonable shopping and transport links, accessible to other cities.

You should find loads of baby group type things in Bridgford.

yeah west bridgford is nice, has a lovely park, is fairly close to town and to rushcliffe country park. join nottingham mama natter on Facebook and you might be able to find some mum's near by

I'm from Nottingham, OP. I live here and enjoy it. I am a similar age although I don't have children, if you'd like some advice or a friend, PM me Smile

West Bridgford is lovely and they have some really nice parks and shops. There's a lovely swimming pool called Rushcliffe with a nice children's bit. The local libraries often have free arts/crafts too.

West Bridgford is Nottingham’s Nappy Valley!
Loads for kids to do there.
It’s a wealthy part of Nottm so loads of baby classes if that’s your thing.
The new (ish) library is nice (and big!) so maybe start there, and look at posters?

WB is lovely and you will find lots of mum/baby groups there. Have a quick Google. I'm not a mum but I know the poppy and pint, and larwood pubs do mums groups. There's usually a farmers market on the weekend. You can also walk along the river and the national water sports centre is nice
