Does anyone live in or know the area? What do you think of it? Are the schools good? Primary and secondary?

Viewing a property there tomorrow and wanted to see what others thought of the area in the mean time. If we like the property we are going to have a walk round the village over the weekend.

I only know it as somewhere on my commute, so don’t really know about the schools. There’s a Primary school in Pensford (next village along towards Bristol), secondaries would probably be Midsomer Norton or maybe Shelton Mallett? It’s quite pretty. The A37 runs right through the middle of it. Nearest big supermarket would probably be the Tesco at Midsomer Norton. If you’re planning to commute into Bristol it’s a bastard 😬 I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will be along in a minute

@SlobDylan yes we are planning to commute into Bristol but not to the centre if that helps! I work by the crematorium on the A38 Bridgewater road - part time thankfully 😂

I did a few agency shifts in a giant nursing home there about 18 years ago. It is an absolute bugger to get to from Weston and seemed very isolated. The staff I worked with were all very very local and didn’t go very far.
Looked pretty though!

We actually drove through there today, which is why your post caught my eye! I reckon that part of Somerset is still pretty good value for money, and will go up. Temple Cloud looks like it’s going up in the world - the pub has had a nice looking makeover, and I noticed the adjacent site has been redeveloped as housing. That’s a busy road though. Is it a new build you’re going to see? (I’m so nosy)

WBWIFE · 19/03/2019 23:43

@SlobDylan no not a new build, it's in a culdesac behind the garage which is off of the main road. It's quite a large house I think, mind you next door sold last year and it is beautiful but out of budget haha.

WBWIFE · 20/03/2019 06:23

@alltoomuchrightnow it does sound a nice place from the name doesn't it 😂

It’s looking more up together in the last year( the A37 bit anyway) so I imagine prices will rise. Don’t know about primaries, but Norton Hill, which is Temple Cloud side of Midsomer Norton has a really good reputation, gets good results and has a great head teacher.
Tfind some time to be really quiet in the house and see what f you can assess noise fromA37.
Also pensford was shut at weekend , so check it out if your coming that way. Planned rd works well think.
