Waiting time for an urgent scan

Hello lovely people, just wondering how long any of you who have been in the same situation as me waited for a scan? I am possibly 9weeks pregnant but started spotting last night which was heavier this morning, told the midwife as coincidentally it was my booking appointment today. She was completely disinterested so I called the advice line to be told I could only be scanned in working hours so will be waiting until tomorrow. I read on here about miscarriage (pretty certain that's what's happening) to see that people waited only 4 hours!
With being so early I haven't told friends or family yet so thought I might ask on here.

Round here you are likely to wait 2-3 days. Could you get a private scan instead? Usually you can get seen the same day.

When I had a bleed at 7.5 weeks I had to wait for three days. MW said this was fairly normal
Flowers OP, waiting is agony

I had a bad bleed at 5 and a half weeks. Went to A&E thinking the worst. This was midday on a Saturday. A scan was arranged for me on the Monday morning.
Longest 48hrs of my life. Thankfully everything was fine.
I hope everything is ok for you. Flowers

2-3 days about normal around here but there is a drop in clinic a few miles away, have you checked what other nearby hospitals offer?

PoliticalBiscuit · 19/03/2019 20:26

I spotted with both of my pregnancies, when my period was due at 8 weeks or so.

I had a scan in working hours both times within probably 24 hours.

I bled for 2 days when I was 9 weeks. Scariest moment of my life. It was mainly when I wiped and not enough to fill a pad. I was told if you fill a pad every couple of hours, it's probably a miscarriage but otherwise it can be normal. Doctor thought it was probably my placenta implanting. It stopped and baby was fine.

I'm so sorry your midwife was so dismissive! That's really not on and she should have referred you to Early pregnancy unit. I work in ultrasound. Ring your GP and get them to refer you to your local Early pregnancy unit. You can also ring the EPAU directly and see what they say. We scan ladies mostly within 24-48hours. We also don't operate a 24 hour service so it's normal to be waiting this long. You won't necessarily get scanned any sooner if you go to a&e. If like us your local hospital radiology isn't 24 hour. Unfortunately it's also not a a&e situation.
Good luck OP. It's very common for ladies to spot during pregnancy and still go on to have normal pregnancies. All the best and keep us informed!

Thank you, I'll keep everything crossed in that case, I am fearing the worst though
