Hi everyone,

Due to a scheduling cock-up (not ours) DS has his sixth form interview tomorrow. He's done some prep, but I'm wondering what to expect and what/ how he should prep tonight?

Any clues on how to make a good impression, what he is likely to be asked and so on?

His grade predictions are ok - a 9s, but mostly 7s and 6s with 5s in the sciences...

Thanks!

My dd's had about 4 (keeping her options open) and really it's just about what you want to do at college, what your interests are, and what grades you think you'll get. Honestly, schools and colleges are mad keen to get the funding for kids, the granting of a conditional place is pretty much a given. DD got offer letters to take home with her after each one.

I thought they weren't actually allowed to interview for a state school, just have a meeting to talk about options? Unless I'm wrong of course (it's been known!). Of course if it's private, that's different.

Thanks Turtle. That’s really helpful and reassuring.

Change - no, state. But they are so I guess they can!

The admissions code states:
In the case of sixth form applications, a
meeting may be held to discuss options and academic entry requirements for particular courses, but this meeting cannot form part of the decision making process on whether to offer a place.

My Dd had hers at her current school. It lasted about 2 minutes. They just asked what subjects she wanted to do and if she knew what she wanted to do afterwards as a career.
