So my car has failed it's MOT im talking 2K + to fix. Im a home carer so rely on transport for work. I have 2 weeks to find something meanwhile i have ds's birthday party and a short 3 night holiday to organise. Please can anyone recomend reliable cars. So far ive had skoda and Vw but i cant find any in my price range. Oh lovely people of MN. Help a poor almost single mum with virutally no savings find a car that wont fail me .

Honda. Unfortunately not cheap until they get over 100,000 miles, but if you can find one at that mileage that's had the clutch done recently, you've got something that doesn't break.

Saying that, my CR-V has just had a new spring, but then it's done 130,000.

Yes, Hondas or Toyotas.

You will find a Toyota Corolla Mk2 for about £500. Bullet proof and well-preserved bodies.

Brand won't equal reliability. You need to factor in age, mileage, service history etc to find something in the second hand market that may be reliable. Even then you couldn't buy a car and something could go the next day as part of the usual 'wear and tear'

What's the budget?
