Aready embarrassed myself before job interview

I was invited to interview 28th March for an internship (I’m a student)
I replied asking to reschedule due to already having a presentation assignment on the day, and suggested few dates afterwards

Interviewer got back to me today and said they won’t be interviewing anyone after 28th, and the only other date they could offer would be 27th

(I cannot make 27th due to prior commitments)
I’ve just double checked my presentation assessment and it was on the 29th all along ffs 😩

Will I be able to apologise and ask for the original interview slot without giving a bad impression

Yes, do go back and ask, don’t reveal your mistake, say you’ve reorganised your university assignment. generally if offered an interview the date is unlikely to be flexible, so don’t ask.

Of course - tell them that this interview is an important opportunity for you, so you've managed to have your presentation assignment moved to the 29th, so you're now available for the original interview slot!

You can but try. Just say you have managed to reschedule your other commitments as you feel you are suitable for the internship. If you don't get an interview, sigh deeply and move on. Good luck!

I’ve since been in touch with my module teacher who has kindly agreed to changing my presentation date to the following week of class instead.

Therefore, if still possible, I’d be eager to take the original interview slot on Thursday 28th April at 10:30am.

I wouldn't say "the following week", just in case they've booked the 28th up and decide to offer you the 29th instead!

I work in HR. This sounds good - maybe just an extra line at the bottom saying something like thank you for your support during this matter.

I once crashed my car into the interviewer's car before an interview and I still got the job. So it's always worth giving it a try!
