University and childminders

I've been looking into beginning university in September.
I have a one year old son who I will need childcare for.
The issue is I won't know what days I will need a childminder for! As a timetable won't be ready until August/Sept.

However it seems childminders get booked way in advance!

Has anyone had this predicament?

Your best bet is to approach your local childminders directly and ask them. If any of them work below capacity they might be able to accommodate this.

Have you contacted the course administration at the uni and asked them? They just have an idea before September even if they don't let the students know before then.

Does the uni have childcare on site? Maybe that would be better than a childminder in terms of accommodating student hours.

Alternatively, you could try a nanny share arrangement, they can often be more flexible.

Presumably this will be an ongoing problem because your hours will change termly? Or at least yearly?

Did you get a place in uni? May I ask what subject did you go for? My son is 10 months and I am planning on studying nursing from this September and just like you I am trying to figure out what to do with my little man
