Wills

My husband and I have got to sort out our Wills I keep procrastinating as I don’t know what to do! In the past in my family, a great grandparent remarried and the children from the first marriage were left nothing after their parent had died. So the second wife and her children got everything, it left a bad taste within the family.

I’m worried that if I die early and my husband remarries and then he dies that my children could potentially not inherit anything as what has happened before!

So I think I need to set something up in trust for my children, protecting their future inheritance. Is a trust or discretionary will the way forward with this?

Yes, if you want to protect against remarriage then you'll need a trust. Discretionary or life interest would do the job.

PS everyone procrastinates- don't feel bad about that! Grin

Thanks, I’ve not heard of life interest I’ll look into that. Do you know if you can have a mirror will with discretionary or life interest bit tacked on or is it a whole different ball game?
