Nice candle gift suggestions? (for a bereaved relative)

I'm not a candley person normally but I know other people buy a lot - so any tips of good brands or nice ones you've found would be great to narrow down my search as I fall down the internet rabbit hole... else my children may not get dinner!

The deceased was an elderly gentleman, if that's relevant and the gift for his daughter who's in her 50s.

Woodwick candles are nice and they do them in a oval shape which is different and they have wicks that crackle when they burn. Some also have different coloured layers too

Depends on how much you want to spend. I love Jo Malone candles but you're talking £50 for one. Or if you have a crafty type shop near you you might get a locally made one. Also Diptyque smell equally gorgeous and are about £25 pounds.

Another vote for Woodwick candles here. I love them.

Fatbutt · 18/03/2019 17:21

I like maiden candles. they do a quirky multi wick curve candle where the wick burns between whatever the candle is embedded with - they look pretty whether burned or not - start at around £30

Nanasueathome · 18/03/2019 17:29

Diptique are in the Jo Malone price range
The £25 are the very small ones

I would splash out and go for Jo Malone

I like Neom, True Grace or St Eval - Neom and True Grace are more luxurious.

LadyKylieShagworthy · 18/03/2019 17:39

Jo malone, diptyque, neom or my absolute favourite - Cire trudon.

This Works - a lovely relaxing scent from the sleep experts.

Mitsouko67 · 18/03/2019 19:46

That's a lovely idea, very kind. St Eval candles are lovely.

BiggFactHunt · 18/03/2019 19:50

St Eval Tranquility smells really lovely, bought one from local gift shop and will definitely get another.
Woodwick are also nice, Fragrance Direct do them cheaper than other places.

Yankee Candle do one called Angel Wings which I sell a lot of when someone is buying a bereavement gift.

MintyCedric · 18/03/2019 20:04

I love DW Home candles. They are an American brand but you can get them in TK Maxx.

Obviously it's a bit hit and miss as to what's available but if you can get hold of one the Lavender and Camomile ones are amazing.

BlueMerchant · 18/03/2019 20:05

I second the Yankee Angel Wings. Lovely sentiment.

BlueMerchant · 18/03/2019 20:06

Also love Pecksniffs rose one.

Valentinesxdayideasxx · 18/03/2019 20:07

Wish upon a star or angel wings by yankee candle
