Pool cue

I'd like to buy a pool cue as a gift but have no idea what is a good make or anything I should take into consideration. Any recommendations would be gratefully received. Price range up to £50.
TIA

Are you sure the person would want a new one? I bought my DH a new snooker cue. He was very nice about it but said he couldn't change his cue. Once you get used to a cue you don't change it apparently.

Yes, DH recently bought a 3/4 pool table "for the DC". It came with a couple of very light crap cues so anything would be an improvement. He's not a regular down the pool hall / snooker club but it'd improve the home experience to have a reasonable cue.

Take him to a pool / snooker hall near you so he can try them out. Some of them sell cues, usually players have preferences regarding weight etc.
If you're not that bothered, ask for a medium weight cue and avoid ones that are highly varnished at the top end (near the tip) as it just tends to stick to your hand as you play.
