Stick jam jar labels

Does anyone know how to remove the sticky label from jam jars? They are a lot more difficult than they used to be, and a soak in water no longer cuts it!

I have seen HG label remover on Amazon, but it comes with so many health warnings that I've backed away.

I use Sticky Stuff Remover.

NV remover does the job too - soak cotton wool in it and rub.

Morty, is NV that nail varnish?

Soak in hot water, scratch off the paper, then use methylated spirits to remove the glue.

I swear by Sticky Stuff Remover too, as a pp suggests.

Neat lavender essential oil on a piece of cotton wool also does the trick.

WD40 works. Weirdly.
