Oh fuck. Dermaplaning

Oh fuck fuck fuck

I got that dermaplaning thing done

To remove peach fuzz. You know the one with the guarantee that no stubble would grow back?

😭 I have a shadow under my skin and it's already bristly in places

Fuck. What can I do? I'm gonna have to shave in the morning. I'm in tears

Am I gonna have to get laser?

Peach fuzz hair is soft and barely visible. And perfectly normal. Are you sure you need it gone so badly you'll put yourself through pain and expense?

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 16/03/2019 23:30

Eh? Peach fuzz will grow back as peach fuzz.

BaronessBomburst · 16/03/2019 23:31

There was a thread on here a few days ago about the Philips luma- thingy-something. People were very enthusiastic about it. Maybe you could get one and laser at home?

Dolly2007 · 16/03/2019 23:33

I'm a beauty therapist and there is mixed thoughts on this. It's not supposed to make your hairs more stubbly. Personally I've been put of training due to this.

FuckSakeFelicia · 16/03/2019 23:37

Peach fuzz has not grown back as peach fuzz

I've got little dots of black at my sideburns and under my chin

I'll have a better look in the morning but fuck me. I swear it's stubbly 🙁

OP posts:
OddCat · 16/03/2019 23:42

I feel your pain Op, I had it done and my skin felt very bristly for a good few weeks after . I'm pleased to say that I'm back to my normal peachy fuzzy self now.

Don't whatever you do shave! Can you bear with it until the fuzz grows back?

wowfudge · 16/03/2019 23:43

However fine the hairs are, if they've been shaved off you'll have a stubbly cut end until the hair grows longer, falls out naturally or is removed at the root surely?

FuckSakeFelicia · 16/03/2019 23:45

I'm more concerned about the look of it..

I've dark hair and extremely see through white skin

I can Double Wear over it tomorrow but fuck, I shouldn't have had this done 🙁

OP posts:
OddCat · 16/03/2019 23:47

I reckon it'll be ok when it grows back. The roots of the hairs aren't affected by having the ends shaved off iyswim.

Grace212 · 16/03/2019 23:57

confused OP - did you just have this done? If it looks like that, is it worth a complaint?

I only heard of dermaplaning the other day on here. I was saying I was wondering if I ought to be doing something about "peach" fuzz as every woman seems to remove every scrap of facial hair now and I'm starting to get self conscious. But dermaplaning kind of sounds like shaving anyway. I didn't really understand how they could say it wouldn't grow back or whatever.

OddCat · 17/03/2019 00:08

Dermaplaning is shaving off the peachy fuzz- I have no idea why it didn't occur to me that it might feel spikey when the fuzz grows back . My face felt rough immediately after having it done and I told the beautician who seemed surprised.

I'd never have it done again and would certainly warn others against it.

FuckSakeFelicia · 17/03/2019 00:09

Yes, I got it done on Friday morning

I'm now stubbly 🙁 I thought it'd just grow back normally

Some people on here recommend Twinkle razors for their faces

I'm definitely not doing that but I don't understand why I've gone stubbly and others don't?!

Fluffyears · 17/03/2019 00:17

This is why i’m wary. I don’t need to give my face hair a bloody excuse!

OddCat · 17/03/2019 00:17

After I had it done I just kept exfoliating my face very vigorously in the hope of softening the ends of the hairs as they grew back .

Give it a few weeks and you'll be back to normal.

Mydressinggownismybestfriend · 17/03/2019 00:20

Don’t shave!! Do not shave.

FuckSakeFelicia · 17/03/2019 00:29

I can't go to work on Monday if I have a beard..

Worst case scenario - laser? IPL?

OP posts:
OddCat · 17/03/2019 00:52

I've tried IPL on my bikini line and it did nothing- I'm resigned to being furry !

elasticfantastic · 17/03/2019 00:58

I'm surprised OP, I've had it 3 times now and love it! I use to have chin and rash waxed but I tried dermaplaning and love how fab my skin is after. Obvs the hair grows back but I've not found that it's different to how it was origin, and I find it grows back better than it did when waxing... I think it's more noticeable to me when is starts coming back but I think that's because my skin is so glowy after I notice when it starts growing back, but def not more than it was before.

For permanent removal maybe invest in laser x

elasticfantastic · 17/03/2019 00:58

Tash not rash waxed!

Grumpyrobots · 17/03/2019 01:39

I found this:

Contrary to what you might think, dermaplaning will not make your hair grow back thicker or darker. Deveny assured me that once your hair begins to grow back it might feel different because the hair was cut straight across, but it's actually the same texture as before and grows at the same speed. It also just might seem thicker because the hair was bluntly cut by the razor versus having a natural point to it.

Grace212 · 17/03/2019 11:51

OP I think worst case scenario is just leave it.

you're not looking at it in a magnifying mirror by any chance?

if it really grows in stubbly, then maybe wax it. After that just let it grow back. Peach fuzz is normal. There's just a massive industry out there saying it's not.

I have a friend with PCOS who has to "shave" her face about twice a week, she's using one of these posh face shavers you get for women now. She quite likes that, but she is dealing with way more than a fuzz.

it is a tough call, I know, I keep seeing all these hair free faces as well!

FuckSakeFelicia · 17/03/2019 14:07

I'd happily have my peach fuzz back

OP posts:
FuckSakeFelicia · 17/03/2019 14:09

Look 😳

Oh fuck. Dermaplaning
OP posts:
Dolly2007 · 17/03/2019 23:19

Did you not have darker hairs there due to your hairline? The fine hairs are not supposed to grow back like stubble.

FuckSakeFelicia · 18/03/2019 19:50

No that's just the side of my face. My chin and cheeks are bad too

I'm devastated
