Has anyone been sterilised?

I have been booked in for my op and I’m really nervous. I only know a little bit about it. What I have looked up on the internet basically. I will be clarifying things at the pre op appointment but I’d be really grateful if anyone is willing to share their experiences? The doctor said they will have to go in through my c section scar. Has anyone else had them do this?

Maybe it's anecdotal but the GP said it could make them heavier. I'm not sure how either. DH won't have the snip I wish he would but I can't force him. It's his body

I was sterilised 8 years ago at same time as DC3 C-section. I was 36. It most definitely DID make my periods much heavier - as in couldn't leave the house on first day of period each month. I did lots and lots of googling and in the depths of 1000s of websites found something about sterilsation blocking hormone receptors in the ovaries and that's what causes the change in periods. I'm now 44 and am entering peri menopause as have missed 2 periods in less than a year - and its brilliant can't wait for the day they stop altogether.

Sterilisation failure rate is 1 in 200 but i was told they chopped, burnt, tied pretty bows in my tubes, so while the chance of failure was still there statistically, it was a reliable method.

I feel robbed of a decent recovery I don’t know what went wrong with mine, I couldn’t even sit up or roll over for 2 weeks. It was hideous!
