I was just wondering how long I would end I would end up breast feeding for in total.

It was be at least 4-5 years.

I figured there would be people on here with a lot more breast feeding years under their belt and wondered how many years there were.

20 months, 3 dc but 2 are twins so if you counted them separately, 30 mos.

All mine I wanted to go a year, but each self weaned around 10 mos.

Well this thread proves how mumsnet is not representative of the population. Or at least those replying aren’t.

I missed 4 yrs of periods, due to lactational amenhorea (sp?). I think that's the important part 2 me One yr per child. :).

Nearly 3 years, just the one DS so far.

Am planning on stopping tonight! DM is having him for 2 nights and I've bought myself sudafed.
feel guilty and will reward him with a big boy bike

Aaahhhbump · 17/03/2019 08:25

DD1 2.5 years
DD 2 sacked me after a year.

DD1 now 6 would still be up my jumper if she could.

TheOrigFV45 · 17/03/2019 08:25

About 8 on total - 2 children.

BertieBotts · 17/03/2019 08:27

About 4 years 9 months so far. DS2 is not likely to stop any time soon.

One of my friends was pregnant and/or breastfeeding continuously for a decade.

JacquesHammer · 17/03/2019 08:28

Almost four years - just one child

Camomila · 17/03/2019 08:28

(I don't feel guilty about stopping, just that I haven't managed to do it gradually and am doing it cold turkey)

How many times? Breastmilk IS better for your baby than ff, especially at the start. There is no way to cut it to argue otherwise. 'Fed is best'is a silly mantra - fed is a minimum basic health requirement. However ff is a perfectly adequate way to feed a baby

Actually it's not, it can be a dangerous message to vulnerable women. Caused many PND due to the bullying to bf, the judgement if you don't.

If mum needs medications that are not compatible with breast feeding, formula is best
If mum isn't getting enough nutrition herself, formula is better
If mum has mental health issues and is a better parent ff, then formula is better
If baby is lactose intolerant, there a lactose free formula
If there is a failure to thrive, formula is best

Breast is not always best

Squeekums - clearly. I meant 'all being equal'. Sorry if I wasnt clear. (I think those exceptions are pretty obvious, I find it baffling that anyone would argue over it but I suppose there are people that would).

7 years, 3 children.
