bride2be19 · 15/03/2019 21:22

Posting for traffic and to ask for your ideas please!

Getting married later this year and want to give our guests favours that they won't just leave behind or bin as soon as they get home.

Can't be alcohol based (venue rules). Happy to spend £5-£6 max, less if poss!

Candle? Like a mini Yankee?

mumofbeagles · 15/03/2019 21:26

We did flower seeds in little brown envelopes. Out of 80 people only 3 got left behind

moreismore · 15/03/2019 21:28

I second seeds

Scratch cards. Someone might win big and split it with you Wink you can guarantee they won't be left behind too.

moreismore · 15/03/2019 21:29

Or little bottles of something like sloe gin...bonus points if you can be bothered to make it!

hidinginthenightgarden · 15/03/2019 21:29

Key rings, sweets...or dont bother. We didn't and I don't think anyone noticed.

TheFlis12345 · 15/03/2019 21:30

Edible things like booze or sweets / biscuits are the only ones I have ever seen not left behind en masse.

PurpleDaisies · 15/03/2019 21:31

I’d save the money or spend it on more arrival drinks etc. No one is bothered about favours.

SparkyBlue · 15/03/2019 21:32

We had flower seeds (15 years ago lol) but my mum was at a wedding recently and they had lottery scratch cards and everyone loved them.

HettieBettie · 15/03/2019 21:34

If it’s a small wedding... a photo of one of/both of you with them and a message written on the back thanking them x

Middlrm · 15/03/2019 21:34

We did scratch cards inside a holder sting lucky in love ... was best value without being too tacky .. in our opinion anyhow meant we spent about £70 on favours vs £360 ... x

Doje · 15/03/2019 21:34

Just don't do them. Nobody remembers a wedding for the favours.....

Middlrm · 15/03/2019 21:34

We had a sweet stall too x x

IncrediblySadToo · 15/03/2019 21:36

Your guests won’t notice, or care, if you don’t have ‘favours’, it’s definitely an easy place to save £

I’d be Hmm at seeds, it’s really odd IMO. I think they’re a cute idea for kids party bags.

Any favours will please some people, but most people will be ‘meh’ about most anything. I think it’s another one of those ‘pointless waste’ things that would better for the planet if they were phased out and no one would miss them.

I remember thinking ‘Oh that’s a cool favour’ at one wedding, but right now I cannot think what it was 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ohyesiam · 15/03/2019 21:36

I’d spend the money elsewhere

themoomoo · 15/03/2019 21:37

Don't do them. i've had numerous flower seeds/ candles/ miniature bottles and I always take them out of politeness and invariably bin them.

ketchupormayo · 15/03/2019 21:38

We had welsh cakes. Something food based always goes down well. I've been to lots of weddings where the favours were just left on the table, these have included mini Yankee candles, seeds with wedding date on them, single flowers which I actually thought looked lovely but guests don't want be to taking flowers with them for the rest of the day.

bride2be19 · 15/03/2019 21:39

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I know it's not a big thing, but we would like to do them, I think it's a nice touch.
I like the seeds idea!

Keep them coming! Smile

Or as PP said just don't have them!

ketchupormayo · 15/03/2019 21:39

Sorry cross post

SospanFrangipan · 15/03/2019 21:42

We did a little brown bag with heart shaped marshmallows and jellybeans. They went down a treat. Some guests even toasted their marshmallows on the centrepiece candles Grin

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 15/03/2019 21:43

Our friends did personalised ones.miniatures of a spirit that they knew the guest liked, scratch cards and Ferrero rocher in a gift bag placed in front of each guest.Went down well I won 9 pounds!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 15/03/2019 21:44

Just realised you said no alcohol sorry

bride2be19 · 15/03/2019 21:45

I like the personalised aspect @SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc

We did a charity donation - lots of the charities offer this and you get a choice of pin badge. Lots of our guests commented on what a nice idea it was.
