Is there anything that I have missed off?

Hi all, I'm currently getting together a list of things I need to pack in my hospital bag. This is what I've written so far.

  • Nighties
  • Breast pads
  • Nipple cream
  • Thick maternity pads
  • 2 nursing bras
  • Large knickers
  • Water bottle
  • Lip balm
  • Flip flops
  • A change of clothes
  • Snacks
  • Hair brush
  • Face wipes
  • Toothbrush/toothpaste
  • Moisturiser
  • Change for car park/vending machine

Is there anything else I've missed off!? I honestly can't think.

This is my first baby also

Other toiletries for a bath or shower???

Deodorant.

Phone charger.

whitehalleve · 15/03/2019 21:34

paracetamol for after pains. If your postnatal ward is busy you're unlikely to get pain relief when you want it.

I also took a light dressing gown for the postnatal ward

Phone charger

I'd also take A small shower gel and deodorant in case you end up having to stay overnight.

I'm assuming you have another bag for baby things?

lucysmam · 15/03/2019 21:40

Pj's! I changed into actual pj's as soon as I could after both girls (unless you prefer nighties, in which case, ignore me!).

Oh and comfy clothes for going home in. With dd2 I took a knackered but very comfy pair of skinnies (y'know how they loose their snug-ness & sag) and long snuggly jumper.

Bobbles or hair clips too in case your hair does your head in.

Rubyduby26 · 15/03/2019 21:41

Pillows!!

I took 2 extra pillows when I was induced and I was so glad I did as i had a fluffy feather pillow with nice soft pillow case rather than the flat pancake ones with horrible plastic feeling pillowcases that the hospital has!

The lady in bed next to me was so happy I had bought 2 as we both had a comfy pillow each Smile

Fleece blanket. Hospital bedding is awful. Magazines +pen!

MintyCedric · 15/03/2019 21:44

Nipple shields, but keep the receipt in case you don't use them.

DD wouldn't latch on without and between the hospital not having any and an EMCS
and resulting faffing there was lengthy delay in me being able to try and feed her.

mummyofdaughters · 15/03/2019 21:57

What about all the stuff for the baby...?

mcjx · 15/03/2019 22:32

I have a separate bag for the baby.

Thanks for all of your comments!

Back up camera

TheCanyon · 15/03/2019 22:57

Take coffee If you drink it. The worst thing bout hospital is the god awful coffee.

I went to hospital with bugger all last time, they got me toothpaste a toothbrush and comb and all was good. Put my clothes back on and left.

gobbynorthernbird · 15/03/2019 23:54

Have you got a portable phone charger? If so, it might be useful (they're fairly cheap if you haven't already).

UnicornRainbowsRain · 16/03/2019 07:35

Have a back up drawer or bag at home sorted with spares so if you end up staying in you have got enough stuff to swap in. Saves anyone rummaging in your stuff.

slipperywhensparticus · 16/03/2019 08:14

I took fruit and laxatives the last time because I was on high duty iron meds and constipated last thing I wanted to do was strain after birth so I took in tons of grapes and ex lax just in case
