Any suggestions for a film for DD's tenth birthday party?

We've decided on a movie night party at home and I'm looking for inspiration for a film under two hours long (nearer 1h30m would be ideal) that will keep an over-excited bunch of girls entertained and not wandering around my house!

Greatest Showman has been done to death, apparently. Any left-field ideas that have gone down well with this age group? Do you think they'd go for something like Hocus Pocus, or is it hopelessly dated?

The Parent Trap? my dd adored that film (and still does!) at 10 x

Princess Bride

Mrs Doubtfire?
Freaky Friday was great at that age
Grease (unsure if that's suitable yet but we definitely watched that at 10!)

Clueless
Practical magic
Older musical
Twilight?
Not sure of length though

zukiecat · 15/03/2019 21:08

I'm old fashioned but I'd go for

A Little Princess
The Secret Garden
Black Beauty

All beautiful films, and DD2 loves them as much now at 26 as she did when she very very young

Nothing above a PG rating

It is not for you as party host to start showing 12As. This puts the other parents / children in an awkward position of potentially having to say they don't feel your choice of film is suitable, or having cross parents afterwards when they find out what has been shown.

Princess Diaries?

13 going on 30?

TeenTimesTwo · 15/03/2019 21:18

GoGo is that a body swap film. They are always fun.
I like 'Big' (?) with Kevin from the Wonder Years in it.

lancslass17 · 15/03/2019 21:21

Jumanji
Shrek
Enchanted
Cool runnings
Dumb and dumber

lancslass17 · 15/03/2019 21:24

Oh yes gogo 13 going on 30 yep definately!

Jfw82 · 15/03/2019 21:37

Stardust
Clueless
Mamma Mia
Twilight

UselessTrees · 15/03/2019 21:41

Ooh, 13 going on 30 might well be a runner! And one I wouldn't have thought of, thanks. Cheers, everybody - lots of good suggestions which I will also think about.

Nothing above a PG rating

Of course.

The Labrynth? Or am I too old fashioned Grin

PutyourtoponTrevor · 15/03/2019 21:43

Kevin from the wonder years wasn't in Big, he was in Princess Bride though

ShaggyRug · 15/03/2019 21:46

‘Penelope’

‘Molly Moon - the Amazing Hypnotist’

Both great films well loved by DD at that age.

TeenTimesTwo · 15/03/2019 21:48

You say 'of course' re not above PG rating, but sadly for many parents it isn't an 'of course'.

TeenTimesTwo · 15/03/2019 21:50

Kevin from the wonder years wasn't in Big, he was in Princess Bride though

Ah yes. Just checked. The body swap film he was in was Vice Versa.
