I would love an uplifting film or series like the Holiday, This is us, Call the midwife type thing. But everything on netflix is a bit rubbish film wise. DP is out two nights and I don't want to be channel hopping watching bits and bobs of rubbish. Any suggestions?

Have you seen A Star is Born? Can't say it's uplifting but it's a fantastic film.

stillpinching · 15/03/2019 18:46

Afterlife, the new Ricky Gervais series on Netflix. Watched it last weekend and loved it.

stillpinching · 15/03/2019 18:47

Definitely uplifting, meant to add.

Dumplin on Netflix is meant to be good although I haven't watched it

SummerHouse · 15/03/2019 18:51

makeawhish I think you have solved it. I have wanted to see that but forgot about it and it is exactly the sort of thing DP would NOT want to watch. Solved in the first post. It's a Mumsnet record. I love Mumsnet except when everyone is being mean

Afterlife is earmarked to watch with DP as we are short on things having watched Luther from the start in about a month.

Grace and Frankie I do like. I am behind a couple of series so will definitely have an episode of two.

I just started The Durrells today while painting the living room! I laughed out loud a lot which I didn’t expect.

Crazy Ex Girlfriend Grin it's fantastic. Though a series rather than a film.

SummerHouse · 15/03/2019 22:37

Was a bit late to start A Star is Born so just watched 2 episodes of the Durrell's. I loved it. Very funny and very uplifting. Just what I was after. Thank you all for these. I am going to watch all of your suggestions!

@SummerHouse I hope you get a chance to watch A Star is Born - I've seen it 3 times (when DP has been out) and I've sobbed all three times - quite cathartic actually!

Petalflowers · 17/03/2019 19:16

We have just watched Turn Up Charlie with Idris Alba. What’s not to like?! Worth watching.

Petalflowers · 17/03/2019 19:16

It was on Netflix.

SummerHouse · 17/03/2019 19:17

@MakeAWhish I definitely will. Looking forward to DP going out again! I am pretty sure I will love it. It's right up my street. Just need to get those pesky kids in bed on time. Snacks and tissue at the ready.Smile
