Bleeding after mirena coil removal- what can I expect?

I had the mirena removed on wednesday.
I had to have it removed on a gynae ward as the threads had disappeared back up. The procedure was unpleasant as you can imagine.
On weds I felt fine but yesterday and today I have been in a lot of pain and am starting to bleed heavily- but not flooding, just lots of bright red blood, like the heavy flow days on a period.
The mirena was only in for a month but all that time I bled and was in pain and was given norethisterone and codeine to manage the pain and bleeding.
I am utterly sick to death of being in pain and bleeding.
How long can I expect this bleeding to carry on for?

I fell like my my whole body has been traumatised and I suspect since I had to have some sort of tool pushed up into my womb to retrieve it that there is trauma there too.
The registrar who removed it said I should only expect some light spotting!
Could this be a period? I haven't really had one since January as I simply bled lightly but constantly with the coil in.
Would love to hear people's experiences.
I am so tired and fed up. I can't walk properly.
Thanks.

I'll use this to talk to myself!
Bleeding had completely stopped by yesterday evening, but cervix pain was horrible.
This morning there is lots of bright red blood again and my womb hurts- like heavy period pain. swallowed more of my cocktail of drugs and will keep my fingers crossed.
The Mirena is the work of the devil.
Before I had it in my periods were regular and light.Angry

I had mine taken out a few years ago because it dislodged itself.. I think I had some spotting but nothing major. My friend had hers removed and I think she had a bleed for a few days, like a period.

I had spotting and bad cramps after mine was removed but then my next ‘period’ which arrived a few days later was like hell on Earth, like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I bled through a mooncup and a giant sanitary towel, through my clothes and then because I was out shopping I had to tie my massive padded coat round my waist to cover the carnage up and then I bled all the way through that! I was not prepared for that Shock

I have to say my body did not get on at all with Mirena though - might not be a typical case.

zgaze you and me both it would seem.
I am exhausted being in constant pain that even codeine cannot shift.

I had mine out a few years ago and bleeding was very heavy - day after I was changing an overflowing mooncup every 1-1.5hrs.

I got some tranexamic acid from the GP which helped. Period lasted around a week with 5 very heavy days.

Cycle went right back to normal and my next period at 28 days was fine.

I really wish I was warned of all these possibilities before I had it put in.
The pills have slowed the blood flow down now. No doubt it will return with a vengeance tomorrow.

The last last time I was in this much pain was after having had a d&c

You poor thing BB...yes I had one mega period then the following ones were back to how they were before I had the Mirena. Still really heavy but not in the league of that one. Tranexamic avid and prescription strength codeine gets me through these days. Roll on the menopause!!

Went back to the drs for yet another VE, that's the 6th in one week. I have read that repeated VEs can cause trauma and infection. The dr took swabs but prescribed a course of amoxiclav anyway. I'm definitely not 'right' down there. Stopped all tablets yesterday morning and the bleeding has only started again a little bit, so I'm really hoping that has settled now.
