Driving test

Ive been told to book my driving test today by my new instructor for 8 weeks time (after only 8 previous lessons over a year ago with someone else) and I'm getting quite anxious. It means by the time my test comes I would have only had a total of 16 hours with a driving instructor spread over a year and a half 😬

So please Mumsnetters who have passed their test, what helped you on the day and have you got any advice? I'm very excited but oh so nervous!

Hey I passed my test a year ago and I was so nervous, but on the day I just thought you know what, so many people don't pass first time so I'll just try my best and if I fail I fail.. I'll book another one. It made me so calm I passed first time :) x

Also good luck!! X

I also passed my test last year. I’d been learning semi intensively and passsed after a month and a half.

Relax and remember you’re an adult and pass or fail it’s not the biggest deal in the grand scheme!

Good luck

The first two tests I took I failed. In my head I was telling myself I'd failed the whole time, even when I hadn't (only failed in the last 5 minutes on the second one but was convinced I'd failed earlier in the test). Anyway, third time I decided to just tell myself "it's okay, I've already passed." Every time I felt anxious or like I'd done something wrong I said, "doesn't matter because I've already passed" and well, I did pass! Grin good luck!

I recently passed my test on the 3rd go. Observe, observe, observe. Check mirrors in an exaggerated way. Do your manoeuvres as slowly as you need to (my 2nd time I rushed my parallel park and that's why I failed).

Although it was awful failing the first time, if you do, just get right back on that saddle and book it again Grin
