Can I please ask whether any of your year 7 children are assessed by their peers and, if yes, how they feel about it?

Thanks.

DS does peer assessment in year 7 but then they did it all through primary school as well so it doesn't bother him at all.

Normal for kids to mark each other’s work. What’s your problem with it?

DS started this in year 7 and they still do. It's done very well with encouragement to give constructive feedback.

The children were given a handful of votes to vote for their favourite pieces of work and DC is upset as the only child not to receive a single vote.

That’s not peer assessment, that’s a popularity contest.

Depends what the work was

Jackshouse · 14/03/2019 18:36

That’s not peer assessment. Peer assessed is marking someone else’s work based on a success criteria and telling them what’s good about the work and what they need to do to improve.

I agree that is not peer assessment.
