I started studying at University in October and after having read into other parent's financial situations, I very stupidly assumed that I would be fine. But of course, I have not been as lucky as some other parent's.
Where I thought I would have to pay less tax as a student parent, I have only received a 25% discount, I am also only receiving £2 toward my rent and this is all explained in the letter I received as they believe £7000 is enough for a parent and their child to live on yearly.
Of course this is impacting my life and while I would never want to consider giving up on my ambitions, I feel like I am being left with no choice. I just cannot afford to live anymore and it really does confuse me as to why I would be better off claiming benefits and not working/studying at all.
