Trying to do something for my dd’s birthday in 2 weeks.

I’ve got her a box for her LOL doll’s and I plan to decorate it.

I want to do

Xxxxx’S
LOL
BOX

In nice big cursive letters. That I’ve done. Managed not to rip any of it either which I’m pretty chuffed about. But then I wanted to glitter the letters and this is where it went wrong. The glitter is not sticking to every part I’ve got big white gaps. I don’t want to overglue the letters either as I worry the letters are going to tear or disintergrate. I’m currently letting them dry and then I plan to add another layer of glitter and glue.

Now I know my mistake was using paper for these letters instead of something stronger, but it took me such a long time to get the letters in the first place that I really don’t want to have to recut if I can help it Blush

Please help me!!!

Have you already stuck the paper letters to the box?

Soubriquet · 14/03/2019 13:00

No I haven’t. They are currently drying on the windowsill

I'd put more glitter on when it's dry, let it dry again, then paint all over the box with clear varnish. When that dries it should all be sealed and will make it all a bit stronger/sturdier too.

Sorry should have said, glue the letters to the box, then glitter them, then varnish. Like decoupage.

I’ve got clear sticky back plastic to cover the box with over the top to stop if from spreading everywhere.

Hopefully I will see what happens to them when dry

Otherwise it’s back to the beginning

What if I glue the letters down on to some card and cut round them not match the shape. Wouldn’t that give it a bit more stability?

Had a change of plan I was losing the will to live

I’ve done this. Not exactly what I had planned but I’m happy enough
