I have a spaniel. I tried the "stand still till the dog stops pulling then move forward" advice. Useless. TWO AND A HALF HOURS and no progress. Then I tried the Halti - the mutt still manages to drag me along with it. Likewise the harnesses. How the hell does anyone get their dog to walk nicely on a lead??

The only thing I've found that works is a Lupi harness.

Figure of 8 lead worked for us. Make sure it is a soft cotton one. Not too thin, not too fat.

by training and giving the dog everything it needs, i.e. exercise, mental stimulation, socialisation with other dogs, good diet etc. and by consulting a behavourist id needed.

Anti pulling meant something entirely different to me.......

mazv1953 · 13/03/2019 22:21

All done - including consulting the vet and paying a behaviourist at vast expense who worked 1 to 1 with us and the pooch.

I walk my idiot JRT in a Dogmatic halter. It works pretty well.

Haven't heard of Lupi - will google it. Thanks Madvixen. Also the figure of eight mentioned by nosleepformetonight. Thanks

We have a cocker and a Sprocker. Definitely a figure of 8 lead!

Haiti was rubbish (collie who thinks he's pulling a sled!) but the new harness is better, it's the Finnish brand hunti? I though just accepted he pulls, he'll walk to heel off lead though, go figure!
