Went to the GP surgery yesterday morning for a blood test for allergies after some ling term minor allergic symptoms. I was told to call in a week for the results. I had a missed call from them tonight at 18.23. Tried to call them back at 18.55 but they closed at 18.30. No voicemail. It's kicked off an anxiety. Why would they be calling me? They do only check for allergies on the blood test don't they? Or do they run a routine screen for all sorts and it's thrown something urgent up? (This is what I'm catastrophising about in my dither.) Help me not stay awake all night worrying?

Maybe they buggered up the sample and you need to do another? If it was something bad they surely would have left a message for you to call back as soon as possible and given you a contact number for OOH.

Deep breaths...

As easy as it is for me to say do not worry I do understand why you are but there is nothing that will be changed by worrying. They haven't left a message and didn't try to ring again. It may be that the bloods were inadequate and they want to get another sample.

Ring again in the morning and in the meantime watch a favourite movie with some chocolate or have a hot bubbly bath and an early night. Quicker to sleep, quicker to wake up.

Take it easy OP as anxiety can make you get an allergic flare up.

Thanks for you Smile

Thanks guys. Just called. She put me on hold for an ominous length of time with dramatic on-hold music blaring out Grin Turns out it was just to book in a phone call from dr with the results next week. Can stop planning my funeral now! Thank you for helping to calm me down.

Daft mare. I hope you told her that she could have left a message!

Thank you for update. I feel a bit cross on your behalf they didn't just leave that in a message - did you say you had been worried? Glad it turned out okay though.

I’m pondering the hold music now...

Hello darkness my old friend
It’s the end of the world as we know it
The final countdown
The ballroom scene from Romeo and Juliet

Justonemorepancake · 14/03/2019 20:53

I did say I'd been anxious and she bloody laughed! Hmm
@LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD 'hello dsrkness my old friend' would have broken the tension as I'd have had a giggle at that! It was something orchestral and... apocalyptic. I'm afraid my music knowledge is dire so I couldn't tell you what.

Or The Final Countdown... it's DS' (5) favourite song and is requested multiple times a day.

American pie?
Mr Blue Sky - not a gloomy song but I heard a R4 programme about a young family whose dad died suddenly and this was his favourite song. It was sung at his funeral and his children recorded a charity version of it. I may have been blubbering by the end and I always think of that family when I hear that song.
