Alpaca/Llama Walking

JustBeenNosey · 13/03/2019 11:42

My mum's birthday is coming up soon and she loves alpacas and llamas..

I've seen that some places do Alpaca Walks which I think she will enjoy.

Has anyone ever done this in/around Yorkshire at all?

Bit of a random one but I wanna book somewhere half decent for her 🦙🦙

I bought a voucher for an alpaca walk for my friends as a Christmas present. They went in the spring and really enjoyed it. I’m in Yorkshire. I’ll go have a trawl online and see if I can find the place I got the voucher from.

JustBeenNosey · 13/03/2019 11:46

@HeritageCarrot fab, thank you!

It was Beacon Alpacas near York if that’s within reach. There are nice pubs nearby and my friends combined the walk with a drink afterwards.

We went to Nidderdale as a wedding gift!! Llamas were fab!

JustBeenNosey · 13/03/2019 11:56

@Easterbunnyiscomingsoon I've been looking at that one too 🙈🙈😂

How long were you on the walk for?

About half hour talk at the beginning, maybe under an hour walk to a 'snack stop', guide's llama carries flasks and biscuits!! Then walk back. Not too strenuous, wore walking books and a mac - went in July.
Stayed in a converted church B&B with a lovely lady called Clare!!

JustBeenNosey · 13/03/2019 13:45

@Easterbunnyiscomingsoon thank you! I've had a look on there and it is abit pricey🙈

It does look really good though and I like that you can do a full day which is what would be ideal for my mum because her and my stepdad go on long walks anyway but I just wouldn't be able to bring myself to pay for the full day trek x

I thought the Beacon place was reasonable as walk was an hour but the experience was 2 hours including a bit of a talk, time to take photos and meeting all the alpacas. I’ve just gone on website again and it says they can cater for birthdays and other occasions with flowers, alpaca gifts etc so that might be a nice reminder of your Mums birthday even though it’s not a long walk.

I clicked to get in on the ground floor of a "T-Rexing In The Supermarket" thread. How disappointing Grin

JustBeenNosey · 13/03/2019 14:50

@HeritageCarrot yeah I've been emailing them about it and it does sound good! I've told them it's her birthday as well so hopefully will be able to do something nice for us x

@JustBeenNosey I went to Holly Hagg alpaca trek in Sheffield. They were brilliant! It was a birthday present so not sure how much it cost, but we went for a lovely walk then fed the alpacas and learned about how they take care of them. It was a lovely day out!

JustBeenNosey · 13/03/2019 15:06

@Glitterandunicorns thank you! I'll have a look at that one as well.
How long roughly were you there for?

We did this one and it was great. Near Harrogate. I think the walk was about an hour but the experience was 2 with a talk first and then they did a small animal talk and stroke afterwards. They also had the option of putting on a buffet lunch after.

@RosieEffect thanks! Someone else said they'd been there but it's abit too expensive as I'll be needing to pay for two people c

I've been to Nidderdale Llamas as previously mentioned and also Thornwood Alpacas www.experiencethornwood.co.uk/alpacas near Haworth. Both were great.

Raera · 13/03/2019 17:59

Another one here who has been to the Beacon one.
We loved it!

elfies · 13/03/2019 18:17

Patroclus · 13/03/2019 18:22

Do they do strippers?

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 13/03/2019 18:23

Pleased to hear Nidderdale Llamas is a good experience - we have a voucher for a family trek to use Smile

JustBeenNosey · 13/03/2019 19:21

@SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock oooo I'll have a look at that one in Howarth, thank you!

@Raera I think I will end up booking this one to be fair😂 I've looked on trip advisor and all looks good 👍🏼 and it's cheap enough.

@Patroclus Urm.. I don't think so 🤷🏼‍♀️🙈😂

@elfies thank you but that's a bit too far away.. want one in Yorkshire
