Hi, my daughter got admission into independent high school [year 7] but cannot afford the high fees and the school does not offer bursary . Can she get financial help elsewhere? If yes, I would appreciate your kind information.

You may be better getting this moved to the education section but to be honest, unless the school offers help (and it would usually only be partial) then I don't think there would normally be anything available. I would double check with the school bursar or headteacher though as most schools will offer something although it is nearly always means tested.

Did you not check about fees and bursaries before entering her for the entrance exam?

Presumably you could afford the fees when you applied, what has changed?

unfortunately this is the case for many families, I would have loved to have sent DS1 to our local private school, he would have passed the exam with flying colours and has always been working several years above his age. the school does offer bursaries but it is a sliding scale,up to £43k where the bursary would be £0. we were just on the cusp of that but after we have paid tax but with 3 kids and all the normal expenses of living there was no way we could afford £15k + bus + lunches + uniform + trips (all of which are much more expensive than state school equivalents.
We are also in wales so dont have grammar schools as an option either. so he has gone to the local comp. its not the best school in the world but its not the worst.
