...for an overpayment?
Or is it a scam? Where are they located? I had a few missed calls from Warwick last week. Could that be them?
Thanks.

Scam

toomuchfaster · 12/03/2019 18:09

No, it's a scam. They sent me a letter with a cheque attached. They wouldn't waste their time and money ringing or texting you.

CluedoAddict · 12/03/2019 18:09

It's a scam. They are based in Swansea.

xTinkerhellx · 12/03/2019 18:10

No. Its a scam.

And I think DVLA are in Wales. Swansea or Cardiff?

Also, TV licensing never email you in regards to a refund, your bank will never ask for your pin, there likely isn't anything wrong with your Windows machine and you probably haven't been in a car accident.

PanamaPattie · 12/03/2019 18:10

Scam. Why would DVLA text you? They would just send a cheque.

KindergartenKop · 12/03/2019 18:15

Oh yeah they are in Swansea. The Warwick number was something else. Looking more carefully at the link it was subtly dodgy eg ending in ukgov.com rather than .gov.uk.

Some people are such sneaky twits. I'd already mentally spent my refund.

What would the DVLA be refunding you for?

Hiddenaspie1973 · 12/03/2019 18:17

No. Scam.

kaytee87 · 12/03/2019 18:18

What would the DVLA be refunding you for?

This?

Chewbecca · 12/03/2019 18:19

Why would they?

rosesarered9 · 12/03/2019 18:21

What would the DVLA be refunding you for?
Vehicle tax
(They just send a cheque, though.)

KindergartenKop · 12/03/2019 18:21

Umm. I've not had a car long so maybe it's some kind of end of financial year based refund? Or maybe just a bonus because I'm a good and courteous driver? Grin

DVLA only refund you if you’ve sold a car that still had some tax left on it. When they do this they send a cheque in the post.

The do not text and do not give refunds out of the blue.

SingaSong12 · 12/03/2019 18:26

Scam DVLA website This was on it
“6) Texts
We never send texts about vehicle tax refunds. Text scams often ask you to follow a link to provide credit card details. Never click on the link and delete the text straight away.”

@KindergartenKop I love the idea of a year end bonus for drivingGrin

Redyoyo · 12/03/2019 19:38

They don't contact you other than to send you out a cheque by post.
