Baby shower idea - Nappy cake

I am organising a baby shower for my friend and was thinking of having a nappy cake as a centre piece . What do you ladies think? Please give me some ideas . Thanks

Will it have chocolate filling?

Personally I do t like them. Probably a snobbish thing though as I can't say what it is that I dislike them.

I'd prefer a hamper.

Do you know that they intend to use disposables?
If so, do you know if they have a preferred brand?
If you are confident, then you could go ahead but personally I think they are naff. The nappies will likely get dusty (surely a few weeks between baby shower and birth). Also, some people wouldn't want the nappies to have been handled.

We got given a homemade one, the nappies were well received (and the ones they didn't use we got given in the rest of the bag). The best thing about it though, was they had put various items around it with little tags on to say "you'll need this for..." and it was all the stuff they had found invaluable in the early days.

We used every item in the gift and they all did the job, lots of handy products you don't really know about or know you'll need until you really need them! We plan on doing similar for some friends.
