GCSE Maths & English for adults

I'm thinking about re-doing my GCSE Maths and English. Not that I didn't do OK the first time (A and a B, respectively) but that was almost 35 years ago!

I'm now 51, worked for years in the City, stopped work to have a child and am now back at work in my third year as a TA in a primary school, working in Year 5.

I love the Maths and English lessons and realise that there is so much that I don't remember, that I never knew or that is taught very differently now. I just want to sit down and join in the class myself! This isn't about me wanting to teach (I don't) and any use that this might be in my job is incidental, I just want to have another go.

Does anyone else done this as an adult and have you any advice/thoughts as to whether it would be best to go distance learning or evening class?
