The best themed parties you went to?

I am celebrating my 30th with a party this year. Any idea of a good theme? I had a fancy dress for my 18th so won't be doing that.
Kids are invited so nothing like gambling.

What was the best themed party you went to?

My favourite theme is getting together with my mates and eating and drinking. Never felt the need for anything else.

Thanks Hmm

I fancied a masquerade ball for my 30th until I realised I only knew like 20 people 😂

Food and music from a particular era in your youth?

90s tunes and kids party food and a themed cocktail that is nicer than WKD Blue but evokes those memories?

hidinginthenightgarden · 10/03/2019 20:58

3boys, there won't be much more than that at mine! I said to DH a few weeks ago that only about 30 people will come.
Love the cocktail idea - fat frogs have happy memories. Only about 5 people there will recall that though Blush

Retro is always good! So 80s, 90s themed, all music from that era. Love the idea of blue WKD, and Bacardi breezers too!

Depends 9n when it is/ weather etc. I go to a White Party every year, which makes everyone look glamorous. We also threw an 90s Ibiza party one year, which went down very well.

Notthisnotthat · 10/03/2019 21:01

As long as it doesn't involve costumes I would happily go to any party. Friends have had decorating themes, so a beach theme, black and gold, black and orange.

hidinginthenightgarden · 10/03/2019 21:01

It is early October. Never heard of a white party.

Notthat. I don't think I will ask people to dress up. It has been done to death in our family!

Evening dress and cocktails?

Or silent disco?

Hels20 · 10/03/2019 21:09

London Underground stations? Quite easy?

girlsyearapart · 10/03/2019 21:11

I’ve been to one that was themed like a kids party - loads of sweets and ‘party food’ and there was a game of pass the parcel which seemed really random but was so much fun.
Each layer had a forfeit in , you could also put a fancy dress type thing in the layer so everyone has something ?

Did beach party for one of my big birthdays, but birthday in July so weather was suitable

TemporaryPermanent · 10/03/2019 21:29

Hat party? Not fancy dress but everyone looks a bit different?

bawhair · 10/03/2019 21:39

Bad taste party, loved going to the charity shops and finding awful mixed matched outfits. Donated all the clothes again when I was finished with them.

RockyFlintstone · 10/03/2019 21:41

If you're not doing fancy dress, then I probably wouldn't bother with a specific 'theme' tbh?

RockyFlintstone · 10/03/2019 21:43

Love the cocktail idea - fat frogs have happy memories.

Loved a fat frog! Are you Irish, I only ever had fat frogs when I was in Ireland?

ChipsAreLife · 10/03/2019 22:09

Initial theme. You have to dress up as something that begins with your first name initial? I.e Helen could go as a hamster, hermonie granger, HP sauce and so on. Allows people to be quite creative but with limits!

Titsywoo · 10/03/2019 22:36

Best one I went to recently was 80s. Best music ever!
