What could be causing DD's sore bottom?

DD aged 5 now and again complains of a sore bottom. I've put it down to her wiping incorrectly. It seems to flare up and then be fine again and when it's sore it can look so red and painful. She's just been crying in pain at the toilet and I'm just not sure if this is normal when they start wiping themselves or if I should be taking her to the GP?

When it flares up, I'll normally pop some sudocrem on which seems to ease the pain a little for her.

Has anyone got any experience of this? Thanks.

Change toilet paper to wipes to see if that helps.

I would take her to the GP.

Also, agree switch to wipes, they're easier for them to wipe 'properly' with.

In terms of cause, could be a food allergy maybe? Any link with what she's eating?

Worms?

thegreatbeyond · 10/03/2019 19:23

She needs to see the GP. Could be any number of things - food intolerance, fissure, threadworms and so on.

Change your toilet paper?
Try wipes and jesus don't flush them. Lol.
If it is just her bum is it anything to do with constipation?

First thoughts are worms. I would get some ovex and give her a dose two weeks apart and boil wash all pjs, bedding, knickers etc and see if that helps.

My 3-yr-old has had a sore bottom on and off for a wgile, but it got particularly bad last night. A quick Google suggested worms, and lovely and behold, when we I really what to look for when, we found one! Sad
He's just had a dose of Ovex, so hopefully it will get better soon!
