It's expensive to buy and I love it for lunch so thought I might have a bash at making my own. Anyone tried this?

If you are doing raw fish sushi do not get it from the supermarket! Go to a proper fishmonger and explain what you want the fish for so they know to give you the freshest fish. Supermarket fish just isn't that fresh although I do find Morrison's fish much better quality to Tesco. I would eat their fish raw at all.

I'm not crazy about raw fish so I guess my sushi will be pretendy sushi! I'm a big fan of veggie sushi.

@TheInvestigator by that logic, a cow is a cow, so why charge more of a certain cut of beef?

I don’t know where you get your info, but all fishmongers in U.K. tell you to freeze it first if you’re buying raw fish for consumption.

And, it takes a couple of weeks to kill a parasite in a freezer whether it’s chicken or fish.

I used too make it with brown rice and no rolling mat but...a Japanese shop near me sold packet mix to put in the rice gave it sushi flavour and made it sticky.
I can't find that mix and I didn't like sushi ready made rice at all.
