Just that, really.
DS (2) took over 2 years to conceive. In that time, I had lots of tests done and found that, apparently, my egg reserve was a little low.
I had an MMC and D&C at 8 weeks in October, baby was a complete surprise and would have been due early June. I really want another child, if not 2 more, and so does DH.
I'm now 37 and back in uni full time for a career change. I have classes until December, and after that I'm supposed to do an internship which should help me find a job. I'll probably start at the bottom on crap money, but there we are. Financially we're just about ok until December, after that we start eating into what we've saved towards a house deposit.
I know the sensible thing to do would be to wait until DS starts school in September 2020 before having another baby. Hopefully by then I'll have a job, even if I'll have only been there 5 minutes before going off on mat leave, and we won't have to pay a childminder for 2 DC out of our savings. I won't have to juggle a pregnancy/newborn with school or applying/interviewing for jobs.
On the other hand, I'm afraid to leave it too long given my history of low egg reserve and taking ages to conceive. And a friend recently said she'd rather hire a new mum than someone who was likely to go off on maternity very soon.
Family obviously trumps career in the long term, but I'm trying not to let my desire for more DC cloud my judgement!
Any thoughts?
