I bought a MacBook nearly 2 years ago, John Lewis set it up for me and loaded all my photos and videos on to it, which I can find through the finder window. They are not in the photos app.
Since then I have imported some folders of photos into the photos app as and when I have needed to, and all new photos taken with my phone have been imported into photos on the MacBook.
My problem is I am nearly out of space on my macbook, so I have been looking at storing photos in the cloud. I was planning to use the iCloud, but to do this I think I would need to import the remaining old photos into the photos app, which will be a job in itself. I import them one folder at a time and I set up a folder within the photos app, so I still have my photos organised into folders.
Someone recommended google photos, so I spent a while looking at it, and I downloaded it onto my MacBook. All my old photos immediately started uploading to it which freaked me out a bit because I had no control with folders etc.
I think what I’m asking is what am I doing wrong? Does it really have to be such a big job to manage and file your photos? And also which cloud based photo storage would be best.... google photos or the iCloud? I probably have about 10,000 photos.
I am aware that I have to pay for the iCloud and probably wouldn’t for google photos. All my devices are apple devices.
Thank you for any help!
