So what is the difference between 2 minutes, 23.86 seconds and 1 minute, 33.92 seconds? I got 49.94 seconds but I feel.like that not right?

Why do you feel it’s not right?
60 seconds in a minute so you have:
143.86 - 93.92 = 49.94

Because if it's right my DS just knocked 11 seconds of his personal best! And I get confused adding time because of the 60 seconds thing rather than say 100cm in a metre kind of thing.

With time I always convert the the minutes to seconds. Much easier!
