Does everyone find it tricky to park exactly into a bay sometimes?

I don't know if it's just me but often, I'll head to a parking bay and without stopping will be able to position perfectly into the middle of the bay (usually by forward parking). However, sometimes I'll end up like the diagram I've attached on the first attempt and will find it very difficult to correct it - have you got any tips for correction? Does this kind of thing happen to competent drivers occasionally?

Perhaps I'm not reversing back out enough to re-attempt for the correction (to try and get the correction over and done with as soon as possible... will reversing out further help?

Thanks

Sometimes I'll try and really get nowhere. I have no idea why! Physics i guess.

Probably not that helpful but it's always easier to reverse park. Easier to drive out of too if you've reversed in.

oh yes, I find getting neatly within the lines when there's nothing either side is a nightmare - I have to open my door to see where the line is & go out & in at least once, often more.

I can park beautifully between 2 other cars though Smile

(I've been driving for close to 50 years & it's always been the same for me...)

Need to back out at least halfway I think, OP - and a bit more if you're quite far adrift. It's hard to think exactly how to do it though, just sitting at my desk Confused

I face my mirrors towards the ground for a decent reverse park.
As pp said it a lot easier to reverse park into bays

GiantKitten · 08/03/2019 23:17

oh that's a good idea, Bigone. I'll try that.

(When I learnt to drive cars had actual wing mirrors, and you had to get out to adjust them Grin)

Back in and use your mirrors. I never miss that way.
