Rash on newborn

Posting here for traffic but DD is 8 days old and came up with this rash this morning and it’s not gone away.

Pictures attached. Does anyone know what this is? She has been more unsettled than usual today.

She has got a midwife appointment on Sunday but is it more urgent?

(FTM Please be gentle!)

Congrats! It looks a bit like heat rash to me, it could also be a reaction to detergent or perfume or something. I assume at 8 days old they're being passed around to lots of people to hold.

Does she have a temperature? Babies at that age can be unsettled just because they're so new.

If you're concerned definitely call 111

Firstly congratulations!!

Newborns skin is really sensitive and can react to clothing, detergents etc.

Does the rash blanch?

iamsuchatit · 08/03/2019 20:48

@Sexnotgender - it does disappear when you press it or press a glass on it

That’s good. I’d keep an eye on it but have a very low threshold for seeking advice

I’d call the midwives and see what they say. I’m fairly sure it’s just a rash, but she’s so new it’s better to get a real pair of eyes to have a look.

Looks like a heat rash (my older daughter kept getting them and I worried a lot the first few times) but definitely call the midwife to be sure

More than likely late onset newborn erythema
