I'm in my 30s DH thinks it's too old for me. I'm useless buying clothes and can't make a decision to save my life. Would appreciate some objective advice. Thanks

I think it's lovely as long as you are very tall and willowy.

That sleeve length doesn't work otherwise.

Bigonesmallone3 · 08/03/2019 16:59

I suppose it depends on how u accessorise, the shoes and what it's for
What's ur body type?

username4858 · 08/03/2019 17:00

Thank you @GreenThing I'm definitely not tall (5ft2)

Sorry posted too soon we are going on holiday it going to be warm but not mad hot I think low 20s. So trying to find something suitable.

Tall and lean yes amazing. If you are short then it is likely to look frumpy and mumsy.

cornflakes5 · 08/03/2019 17:03

It's ok but not great. Something about the cut and maybe fabric is a bit old-fashioned. I think try ASOS for their version - they have lots of cotton tea dresses and similar, at calf length.

isseywithcats · 08/03/2019 17:03

at 5ft 2 i think that style will make you look shorter it will overwhelm you that sleeve length will cut you in half buts its a nice dress if you can return it with no problems might be worth ordering it as dresses can look totally different on to in a picture

Longdistance · 08/03/2019 17:05

I’m 5’10” and that dress would not sit past over my knees like that.

cornflakes5 · 08/03/2019 17:13

Oh boo I've failed to find you a red dress similar to that on ASOS, but did find some other long-ish button down dresses:

Like this www.asos.com/monki/monki-button-front-midi-dress/prd/9865106

Lovely tea dress www.asos.com/asos-design/asos-design-button-through-maxi-tea-dress-in-ditsy-floral/prd/10821635

cornflakes5 · 08/03/2019 17:14

This is probably too flimsy for low 20s temperature, but thought I'd attach a pic as it's so pretty and jolly.

lunicorn · 08/03/2019 17:17

It's grannified. You have to be careful with Monsoon, or you could come out like a frump.

LostwithSawyer · 08/03/2019 17:17

Don't like the dress, looks like something from little house on the prairie.
You're too short for shin length, will make you look smaller. (I am too)
I find the longest I can do is knee length as in pencil skirt or a maxi dress. Nothing inbetween.

runandbehappy50 · 08/03/2019 17:20

I agree with everyone else. Old fashioned and unflattering

Stuckandsad · 08/03/2019 17:24

No sorry OP. Have you tried joanie clothing? Kinda vintage and quirky but much more your age range

BlueMerchant · 08/03/2019 17:25

Awful.

Decormad38 · 08/03/2019 17:27

Lovely. I would pair it with navy cardigan and navy loafers. Lovely

username4858 · 08/03/2019 17:29

Thanks everyone knew I would get some honest opinions here. @cornflakes5 thanks I will have a look at them dresses

Drizzlehair · 08/03/2019 17:32

I strongly disagree! With the right accessories, and taken up if it sits too long on you, it will look chic and vintage, Hepburn on a summer holiday.

If you can sew / know someone who can then it'll be v simple to adjust it to fit you beautifully. You could take the sleeves up a bit too if you like. I think it's fab and I want it

cittigirl · 08/03/2019 17:33

I saw that dress in monsoon the other day and thought how lovely it was. Unfortunately it wouldnt be right for my figure.

AnnieOH1 · 08/03/2019 17:34

I don't think its a great cut but with a chunky heel and statement jewellery I don't think it would look "old"

EstrellaDamn · 08/03/2019 17:37

It looks a bit Bon Marche.

WhoWasIt · 08/03/2019 17:40

Um, my mum would like it. She's in her 80s.
There's much nicer out there to suit you better OP.

cittigirl · 08/03/2019 18:59

I don't think the picture does it justice

Aquamarine1029 · 08/03/2019 19:01

Given your proportions, I don't think this is the dress for you.
