Antibiotics for mastitis. Dosage?

I went to the Drs yesterday for mastitis. She prescribed me antibiotics. I’ve been prescribed 500mg of flucloxacillan x 4 a day. For 10 days. (So 40 x 500mg of tablets in total)

Does this seem like the right dosage? I had mastitis twice before with my oldest child and I’m sure the dosage was much lower. (And I heard a scary thing on the radio about antibiotics earlier so I’ve scared myself!)

Yes that’s a normal dose, take it on an empty stomach. Hope it works for you soon, mastitis is the worst 😥

Oh that’s a shame! I was hoping someone was going to say 10 days is fair too long to be on these tablets which are giving you reflux!

Yes I had some last year..my first lot of Anti-B's in 15 years and was surprised at the dose. The made me feel really bluergh as well

Sounds right. I had a 7 day course initially the first time but it recurred within a few weeks so then had 10 days, which settled it completely.

Yep normal dose. Sometimes you might get 7 days but 10 is better!

I was on 1g a few times as my mastitis became sepsis once.
